5-fold jump in incentive to central govt staff for acquiring higher qualifications while in job

The Central government has raised the incentive for its employees who acquire higher educational qualifications while in service, by almost five times. However, the educational qualification so acquired must be directly relevant to the employee’s job. The President on Monday announced the new rates of one-time lump sum to be offered as an incentive to Central government employees depending on the fresh, higher educational qualification they have acquires after joining service. While a PhD degree would get the employee Rs 30,000 as incentive, a post-graduate degree/diploma of more than one year would fetch Rs 25,000, PG degree/diploma of less than one year duration Rs 20,000; degree/diploma of more than three years’ duration Rs 20,000; and degree/diploma of three years’ duration or less Rs 10,000.
